25 years and still going strong

Transformers began as a four issue mini-series published by Marvel in the US in 1984. It was so successful it ran for 80 issues, while its UK counterpart (which was weekly for most of its run) chalked up 332 issues.

There followed (in 1992) Transformers Generation 2, a 12 part comic again from Marvel and then a 10 year hiatus until a little known Canadian company called Dreamwave picked up the licence. It was initially a massive success but two year's later the company was bankrupt and stories went unfinished.

Since 2005 the licence has been in the hands of San Diego-based publisher IDW and once again flourishing, with a mix of G1 comics and titles based on the TF Animated series and live action films.

Win Maximum Dinobots Issue #1!

******

In December the Dinobots cut loose all over again when Simon Furman's latest Transformers epic 'Maxmimum Dinobots' arrives on shelves (and this site). We offered to reward 10 lucky users with a free copy in return for them correctly answering the questions below. The results can now be revealed.

******

Q1 - Who is the shadowy government group holding the Dinobots captive in Spotlight Grimlock?

a) Skynet
b) Skywatch
c) The Sky at night

Q2 - True or false - Slag transforms into a stegosaurus?
False. He's a triceratops

Q3 - Which of these is Swoop's correct motto?

a) Among the winners there is no room for the weak
b) I never met a Decepticon I didn't dislike
c) Fear can hit targets beyond the reach of bullets

Q4 - In the recently-reprinted Marvel UK story Dinobot Hunt two crazed Dinobots are pitted against each other - but which two are they?
Sludge and Grimlock - it's in Marvel UK issue 50

Q5 - Which Dinobot (mostly) does not appear in the Transformers Animated Movie?
Bit controversial this one. The answer I wanted is Snarl. He appears in a couple of frames (by mistake I believe) but not in a starring role.

The winners are:

1) Adam Miller
2) Ralph Burns
3) David Langham
4) Chris Perkins
5) Kevin Hagan
6) Simon Chiddington
7) Andy Senyszyn
8) Adam Walters
9) Andrew English
10) Killer
