No one knows if they're real any more, they've been kind of lost in the mists of history. Some of the people who go with Rodimus are believers, some just want freedom from Cybertron and some just have reasons we'll get to as the story goes on. The series deals with the Transformers' quest as they to restore Cybertron to its golden age.
